My Daily Gratitude

Today Saturday, 8/29/2015 I am grateful for the Career Counseling I am getting through SLU. I spoke to my Career Counselor yesterday afternoon and she emailed me the link to take a career assessment evaluation. Can't wait to hear the results!! All of my life when I have taken aptitude tests at school, I hoped they would give me direction and say: This is the field you will do best in. They never did. They would tell me that I would excel in any field I decide to work in. I have varied interests so narrowing down what I want to work in is hard for me to do. Hopefully this evaluation will help me that way.

  1. Good Luck with your evaluation! I always thought that the phrase 'The sky's the limit!' was fair annoying... because great now I have LOADS of choices. :D

This is not a negative comment, I understand how hard it is to focus when you can do whatever. I end up doing a bit here, and there, and over there :D

  2. Take the test with an open mind, but don't feel obligated to follow anything it suggests. When I first started medical school, they asked me to take one of those that suggested I was only suited for emergency medicine. By the time fourth year arrived, I despised the idea of going into clinical medicine at all and started focusing entirely on pathology and medical education.

Not surprisingly, I ended up focusing on pathology, not what some silly test said I should. The test did encourage me to join some ER interest groups that helped me learn a bit about how that environment (which is usually thrilling and dramatic). That knowledge is helping me write my first fiction novel. So the test was useful, just not in the way it intended.

    Good luck!

  3. Hi, Elegancesicy!

I thank you and I am so happy for you that you have LOADS of choices!! Sure does make a difference, doesn't it?
Yes, remaining focused can be tricky. I am pushing through and getting the hang of it a little more each and every day.
